To all the moms out there, I have a question:
How did you all get your little ones to sleep on their own?!!!!
Here's my dilemma: My strong willed baby Mia (so strong willed that she refused to eat for 9 hours until she got to breastfeed) needs to nurse to go to sleep. So I've been told by my doctor to let her cry 5, then 10, then 15 minutes. Problem is that she can wail for more than an hour. During the day she won't cry AS long before napping. Sometimes she'll cry 15 minutes, sometimes 30, sometimes 1 hour. But she always falls asleep eventually for a nap. I can't say it's gotten consistently better. It really varies.
Now nightime is a different story. One night she cried for an hour and a half and threw up from screaming so hard. I always give in eventually...whether it be through nursing (since I'm afraid that she actually might be hungry) or rocking. I still have yet to have 1 successful bedtime training.
All those sleep experts say that the training should get better over a few days. yea right!! It's basically about the same everyday. And it's been about a week already! I really hope I am not traumatizing her by letting her cry everday so much.
Big lesson learned: don't let your baby fall asleep nursing!!!!! You may think it's so easy to put them to bed in the beginning but wait until they're older and using you as a human pacifier. OIY!!! |
